On Tuesday March 18th, 2014 the whole school went on a trip to Ennis Library and Ennis Museum.
At the library we learned all about how the books are tracked and stored on their relevant shelves. We learned how they are categorised and how easy it is to find a book on a certain topic.
From there we went to Ennis Museum. We saw lots of interesting artefacts.
We learned all about John Joe ‘Goggles’ Doyle (1906-2000). He was from Newmarket-on-Fergus. He played left corner back for Clare. He won 6 club titles and one Munster title. He also won an All-Star. Unfortunately, he never won an All-Ireland medal but did live to see Clare win the All-Ireland in 1995 and 1997.
We also learned about a famour hurler called Brendan Considine (1897–1983). He was born in Ennis. He won 2 Munster titles, 2 Leinster titles and 2 All-Ireland medals. He played with Leinster because he got a job in the bank in Dublin. We even got to see some of his medals.
We got a chance to look around the museum. There were many items on show from different times in Irish history which we had learned about in school.
It was great to get to see so many interesting things from the past!
